Gum Disease Therapy

Gum (periodontal) disease often strikes quietly with few or no symptoms at the onset. Left untreated, gum disease can progress to cause significant damage to your oral and overall health and has been linked to stroke, heart attack, pregnancy complications, and Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Stefan and Dr. Holecek use modern tools and therapies to combat gum disease and promote whole-body health.

Early-stage gum disease, called gingivitis, may cause red, swollen gums that bleed when you brush. We combat gingivitis with a deep cleaning and instruction on proper brushing and flossing techniques. Drs. Stefan and Holecek use antibiotic therapy to resolve moderate cases of gum disease. We may suggest laser surgery if your gum disease is severe. The dentist will use a soft-tissue laser instead of scalpel to remove diseased tissue and promote periodontal health. The laser seals as it goes, so you won't need stitches, bleeding is minimal, and recovery is quicker than with traditional methods of surgery.

Call our dental office today to schedule your gum disease assessment with Dr. Stefan or Dr. Holecek. We give residents of Detroit, Rochester Hills, and surrounding areas first-class care for five-star smiles!
